Introducing Max Maclaren

North London based singer, Max Maclaren’s music ranges from easy listening, big band, jazz standards and the very best songs from the West End stage.

He has a natural flair and as a male vocalist, has the power, projection and performance normally only found with established professionals of many years' experience.

Max began his musical career in his hometown of Plymouth (UK) debuting in a production of Hello Dolly! at the Theatre Royal in 1993. Since then he has sung and danced his way through a variety of shows and concerts including Oliver!, 42nd Street and Showboat. However, his talents do not rest there.

As an accomplished musician, Max has also been musical director for many shows including a sell-out production of Annie at Plymouth's Athenaeum Theatre in 1996. The following year Max concentrated on singing on the local cabaret circuit until he departed for Jersey (CI) in 1999 to sing for Pontins Holiday Club.

Later that year he arrived in London and was soon found training at the highly acclaimed Italia Conti Academy of Performing Arts. During that time, Max also worked as a session singer for various recording projects.

In 2003, having taken a break from theatre, Max was delighted when invited to join the Risley Musical Theatre Company in North London to play the lead role of Billy Crocker in Anything Goes.

With a relaxed and intimate performance style, Max is just perfect for bars, clubs and corporate events. Vocals are supported by quality backing tracks.

Max is also available as part of a duo. Details coming soon!

A Life in D Minor

This is the working title of my new album. It's loosely based on the fact that many songs I've written are in the key of D minor or B flat (my preferred singing key). This will be my first attempt at properly recording my own songs, some of which were written up to thirteen years ago!

Looking back at the song's lyrics, I get an interesting picture of my thoughts, feelings and emotions at the time the song was written. It has shown a journey from adolescence to middle-age, of happy times, despair, inner-strength, weakness, love & relationships, courage and determination, hence a 'life' in the key of D Minor.
